Cinque Terre Hiking Trail
The Cinque Terre hiking trail (Sentiero Azzurro) connects all five villages along the coast with a paid trail card. The trail passes through vineyards, olive groves, and terraced hillsides with views over the Ligurian Sea.

Monterosso al Mare
Monterosso al Mare is the largest and most resort-like of the five Cinque Terre villages, the only one with a proper sandy beach. Free to walk the old town and swim on the free public beach. The village is divided into an old town (with a Capuchin convent and sea views) and a new town (with the beach and the train station). Budget travelers use Monterosso as the starting point for the Sentiero Azzurro hiking trail to Vernazza and swim at the beach after the hike.
