Corniglia
Corniglia is the only Cinque Terre village not directly on the sea, perched on a hilltop 100 meters above the water. The Lardarina stairway (382 steps from the train station) is the traditional way up.

Cinque Terre Hiking Trail
The Cinque Terre hiking trail (Sentiero Azzurro) connects all five villages along the coast with a paid trail card. The trail passes through vineyards, olive groves, and terraced hillsides with views over the Ligurian Sea. The section from Monterosso to Vernazza is the most scenic. Budget travelers buy the trail card, hike two or three sections in a day, and take the train back to their starting village.
