Peña de los Enamorados is the tilted limestone mountain east of Antequera, its profile widely read as a sleeping face seen from the side. It costs nothing to look at, and the best free angles are from the Dolmen de Menga and from the Alcazaba of Antequera viewpoint. The rock is more than scenery: the corridor of the dolmen was deliberately oriented toward it rather than toward the sunrise, which is why the rock shares the UNESCO World Heritage inscription with Dolmen de Menga and Dolmen de Viera. Its name comes from a legend of two lovers from rival faiths who leapt from the summit rather than be parted, which is also why it goes by Lovers’ Rock and Lovers’ Leap.
