The sanctuary of the Virgen de los Remedios, patron saint of Antequera, stands on Calle Infante Don Fernando, the town’s main pedestrian street, so it is hard to miss and free to step inside. Behind the Baroque facade is the former church of a Carmelite convent, with a worked interior built around the venerated image of the Virgin. Free entry makes it an easy addition to a self-guided church walk that also takes in the Collegiate Church of Santa Maria la Mayor near the Alcazaba and the gilded altarpiece at the Church of El Carmen.
