City in Turkey

Konya

2 things to see

Konya is the home of the Whirling Dervishes and the Mevlana shrine, a deeply spiritual city with a conservative character and prices that stay very low even by Turkish standards. The shrine and the old quarter around it are free or close to it to visit, the city’s mosques cost nothing to enter, and street food keeps a day’s eating cheap. It sits on the central Anatolian plateau as a calmer, lower-cost stop between Ankara and the Mediterranean coast around Antalya.
