Ohrid Old Town

Ohrid’s Old Town climbs a hillside above Lake Ohrid, a UNESCO World Heritage Site of cobblestone lanes, Ottoman houses, and medieval churches. Free to walk. The Church of St John at Kaneo, perched on a cliff above the lake, is the most photographed building in North Macedonia. Budget travelers walk from the lakefront through the old town to the fortress at the top and get a complete introduction to a town that has been continuously inhabited for over 2,500 years.
