The Central Market is an open-air and covered market along the Ljubljanica River, designed partly by Plecnik. Free to browse. Fresh produce, cheese, bread, and Slovenian specialties fill the stalls. On Fridays from March to October, the Open Kitchen (Odprta Kuhna) street food event takes over the riverbank with affordable dishes from local restaurants. Budget travelers eat at Open Kitchen on Fridays and assemble picnics from the market stalls on other days.

An Art Nouveau bridge guarded by four copper dragon statues, the unofficial symbol of Ljubljana. Built in 1901, it was one of the first reinforced concrete bridges in Europe. The dragons have become the city's mascot. Located one bridge east of the Triple Bridge, connecting the market area to the Metelkova district.
