The Uffizi Gallery is the most important collection of Renaissance art in the world, housed in a 16th-century building designed by Vasari. Entry is paid. Free on the first Sunday of the month (expect huge queues). Botticelli’s Birth of Venus and Primavera, Leonardo’s Annunciation, and works by Raphael, Titian, and Caravaggio are here. Budget travelers visit on the free Sunday (arrive early) or pay the ticket for a museum that has no equal in the history of Western art.
