Galleria dell'Accademia
The Galleria dell’Accademia houses Michelangelo’s David, one of the most famous sculptures in the world. Entry is paid. The museum also has Michelangelo’s unfinished Prisoners (slaves emerging from raw marble, possibly more moving than the David itself) and a collection of medieval and Renaissance paintings. Budget travelers pay the ticket for the David and discover that the Prisoners are the real revelation.
