Palazzo Medici Riccardi was the first Medici family residence and the prototype for Florentine Renaissance palace architecture. The courtyard is free to enter. The Chapel of the Magi upstairs, with frescoes by Benozzo Gozzoli, requires a modest entry ticket and is one of the most beautifully decorated small spaces in Florence.
