Syntagma Square
Syntagma Square is the central square of modern Athens, fronted by the Hellenic Parliament in the former Royal Palace. The changing of the Evzone guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier happens every hour and is free to watch. The elaborate Sunday morning ceremony at 11 draws the biggest crowd. The square connects to the National Garden and the Plaka neighborhood, making it the natural starting point for a walking day.
