Monument in Athens

Ancient Agora

The Ancient Agora was the civic and commercial heart of classical Athens, where Socrates argued and democracy was practiced daily. The site is included in the Acropolis combo ticket. The restored Stoa of Attalos now houses a museum. The Temple of Hephaestus at the western edge is one of the best-preserved Greek temples anywhere. Quieter than the Acropolis and often overlooked by visitors rushing between the bigger sites.
