The European Parliament building in the Wacken district is the seat of the European Parliament when it meets in Strasbourg (it alternates with Brussels). Free guided tours when Parliament is in session.

Strasbourg Cathedral
Strasbourg Cathedral is a Gothic masterpiece with a single spire (the second was never built), an astronomical clock, and a red sandstone facade covered in sculptures. Free to enter. The clock performs a mechanical show at 12:30pm (small fee for prime viewing, free from further back). The platform (328 steps, paid) offers views over the Rhine plain to the Black Forest. Budget travelers enter for free and see one of the most ornate Gothic interiors in France.
