Over 200,000 crosses cover a small hill outside Šiauliai, placed by pilgrims, mourners, and visitors since the 1831 uprising. Free to visit, the site survived multiple Soviet bulldozings and keeps growing.

The white-towered cathedral dominates the city center’s pedestrian boulevard. Entry is free. The church has been rebuilt multiple times after wars and fires, and the current bright interior provides a calm contrast to the intensity of the Hill of Crosses outside town.
