Monument in Siauliai

Hill of Crosses

Over 200,000 crosses cover a small hill outside Šiauliai, placed by pilgrims, mourners, and visitors since the 1831 uprising. Free to visit, the site survived multiple Soviet bulldozings and keeps growing. The visual density of crosses, rosaries, and carvings is unlike anything else in Europe.
