Santa Justa Elevator
The Santa Justa Elevator is a wrought-iron lift in the Baixa that connects the lower city to the Carmo neighborhood above. The ride up is paid (or included in a 24-hour transit pass). The observation platform at the top charges a small extra fee and offers views over the Baixa rooftops, the castle, and the river. Budget travelers ride up with their transit pass and skip the observation deck, since the view from the exit platform is almost as good.
