San Miniato al Monte is a Romanesque church above Piazzale Michelangelo with a green and white marble facade and a medieval crypt. Free to enter. The church is 10 minutes uphill from the Piazzale on foot. Most tourists stop at the Piazzale and never climb to San Miniato, which means the church is quiet, the interior is stunning, and the view from the churchyard is even better than from below. Budget travelers walk up from the Piazzale and see the single most beautiful Romanesque church in Florence.
