The San Lorenzo Market is Florence’s central market area, with an outdoor leather market (free to browse) and the Mercato Centrale food hall inside a 19th-century iron and glass building. The ground floor sells fresh produce, meat, and cheese. The upper floor has sit-down food stalls at mid-range prices. Budget travelers buy supplies on the ground floor for a picnic or eat a panino at one of the cheaper stands.
