Rotes Rathaus
The Rotes Rathaus (Red Town Hall) is Berlin’s city hall, a red-brick building near Alexanderplatz named for its facade color, not its politics. Free to view from outside. The terracotta frieze running around the building depicts the history of Berlin. Budget travelers pass it on the walk between Alexanderplatz and Museum Island and see one of the few prewar buildings in this part of Berlin that survived the bombing largely intact.
