Bebelplatz
Bebelplatz is the square on Unter den Linden where the Nazi book burning of May 1933 took place. Free. A glass panel in the center of the square reveals an underground room with empty white bookshelves, a memorial by Micha Ullman. The square is flanked by the State Opera, St Hedwig’s Cathedral, and the old Royal Library. Budget travelers look down through the glass and see one of the most quietly powerful free memorials in Berlin.
