The oldest Muslim fortification on the Iberian Peninsula, built with stones recycled from Roman and Visigothic buildings. The walls and cistern are included in the combined site ticket, and the views over the Roman bridge and Guadiana river are excellent.
One of the longest surviving Roman bridges, stretching 792 meters across the Guadiana river on 60 arches. Completely free to walk across, it connects the Alcazaba to the far bank and is best seen at sunset when the stone glows golden.
One of the best-preserved Roman theatres in the world, still hosting performances during the summer festival. The two-story stage wall with its Corinthian columns is breathtaking, and a combined ticket covers multiple Roman sites at budget-friendly prices.
