Mykonos Town
Mykonos Town (Chora) is a labyrinth of whitewashed alleys, blue-domed churches, and bougainvillea-draped doorways. Free to walk. Little Venice (a row of houses built directly over the water) and the hilltop windmills are the signature views. Mykonos is expensive, but the town itself costs nothing to explore. Budget travelers arrive by ferry from Athens (cheaper than flying), walk the alleys, photograph Little Venice, and eat at the cheaper gyros shops away from the waterfront.
