Hill of Three Crosses
The Hill of Three Crosses is a hilltop viewpoint across the Vilnele River from the Old Town, crowned by three white crosses that have become a symbol of Vilnius. Free. The original wooden crosses were erected in the 17th century in memory of martyred monks. The Soviet government destroyed them; the current concrete crosses were rebuilt during the independence movement in 1989. Budget travelers climb the short path from Bernardine Garden and get the best panoramic view of the Old Town, the cathedral, and Gediminas Tower.
