Hales Market (Hales Turgas) is Vilnius’s central market, a covered hall near the train station with stalls selling fresh produce, meat, cheese, and prepared Lithuanian food. Free to browse. The prices are local. Budget travelers buy cepelinai (stuffed potato dumplings) from a counter for a couple of euros and eat standing up at the market tables. Cheaper and more authentic than any restaurant in the Old Town.
