Graz Old Town

Graz’s Altstadt is a UNESCO-listed old town of Renaissance courtyards, Baroque facades, and narrow lanes climbing the Schlossberg hill. Free to walk. The Hauptplatz (main square), the Landhaus (Renaissance courtyard, free), and the double spiral staircase in Burg (free) are the highlights. Budget travelers walk through the old town, find the double staircase, and discover that Graz is the second-largest city in Austria and significantly cheaper than Vienna.
