A Renaissance palace at the top of Caceres’s walled old town, housing the Provincial Museum of Caceres. The draw is underground: an 11th-century Almohad cistern (aljibe) with horseshoe arches over a pool of water, one of the best-preserved in Spain. It sits close to the Jewish Quarter of Caceres and the Plaza Mayor de Caceres, inside the Almohad Wall. Entry is free for EU citizens and a small fee for non-EU visitors, which makes the cistern one of the cheapest sights in the old town.
