Bursa Grand Mosque

The Grand Mosque (Ulu Cami) of Bursa is a 14th-century Ottoman mosque with 20 domes, a fountain inside the prayer hall, and extraordinary calligraphy covering the walls and pillars. Free to enter. Bursa was the first Ottoman capital and the mosque is the most important early Ottoman building in Turkey. Budget travelers take the cheap ferry from Istanbul across the Sea of Marmara, visit the mosque for free, and eat the city’s famous Iskender kebab (a Bursa invention) for a few lira.
