Reims is the champagne capital of the world, and the budget anchor is its Gothic cathedral, a UNESCO-listed coronation church that is free to enter. Reims sits on the high-speed TGV line from Paris, close enough for a day trip, which makes it an easy budget add-on rather than a long detour.
