Fortress in Sarajevo
The Yellow Bastion (Zuta Tabija) is an Ottoman-era fortification on the hillside above Bascarsija with an open terrace and the best sunset view in Sarajevo. Free. The view stretches across the entire valley, with minarets, church steeples, and the surrounding mountains in every direction. Budget travelers climb the short path from the bazaar, sit on the wall, and watch the call to prayer echo across the valley at dusk.

The Sarajevo City Hall (Vijecnica) is a neo-Moorish building on the Miljacka River, originally built as the National Library. The building was shelled and burned during the 1992-1995 siege, destroying 2 million books and manuscripts.
The Sarajevo War Tunnel is a museum at the residential house through which a tunnel was dug to the airport during the Siege of Sarajevo. Separate from the Tunnel of Hope museum, this site preserves the family home and a section of the original 800-meter tunnel.
