Bridge in Avignon

Pont d'Avignon

The Pont Saint-Benezet (Pont d’Avignon) is the famous medieval bridge that now ends in the middle of the Rhone after most of its arches collapsed. Entry to walk on the bridge is paid. The best views are free from the Ile de la Barthelasse (the island below) or from the Rocher des Doms park above. Budget travelers photograph the bridge from the free viewpoints and hum the French nursery rhyme that made it famous.
