Street in Pamplona

Pamplona Old Town

Pamplona’s old town is a compact area of medieval streets, the Gothic cathedral, and the Plaza del Castillo (the main square with arcaded cafes). Free to walk. The bull-running route (Estafeta Street) is walkable year-round, not just during the San Fermin festival in July. Hemingway drank at the Cafe Iruna on the main square and wrote about it in The Sun Also Rises. Budget travelers walk the old town, trace the bull run route for free, and eat cheap pintxos in the bars of the Navarreria quarter.
