Palamidi Fortress

Palamidi Fortress is a Venetian hilltop castle above Nafplio, reached by climbing 999 steps from the old town. Entry is paid at a modest price. The view from the ramparts covers the Argolic Gulf, the town, and the surrounding mountains. Budget travelers climb the steps (free, the path is the experience) and pay the small entrance fee for one of the most dramatic fortress views in Greece.
