The Vieille Ville (Old Town) of Nice is a dense grid of narrow streets between the Promenade and Castle Hill, painted in warm ochres and reds. Free to wander. The Cours Saleya flower and food market runs through the heart of it. Socca (chickpea flatbread) from a street vendor costs a couple of euros. Budget travelers eat socca standing up, browse the market, and explore the baroque churches tucked into the alleys.
