Street in Malmo

Malmo Old Town

Malmo’s Gamla Staden (Old Town) is a compact grid of cobblestone streets and squares centered on the Stortorget (main square) with the Town Hall and the St Petri Church (free entry). Free to walk. The Lilla Torg (Little Square) with its half-timbered buildings and outdoor restaurants is the most atmospheric corner. Budget travelers cross the Oresund Bridge from Copenhagen by train (cheap) and discover a Swedish city with Danish proximity, better food prices, and its own distinct personality.
