A grand irregular square surrounded by Renaissance palaces built by conquistadors who returned wealthy from the Americas. Free and atmospheric, it is dominated by the equestrian statue of Francisco Pizarro.

A Romanesque-Gothic church near the castle with a 25-panel retablo by Fernando Gallego and a climbable bell tower. The interior charges a small fee but the views from the tower over Plaza Mayor are worth it.
