Galway Cathedral
Galway Cathedral is a massive limestone cathedral on the west bank of the River Corrib, completed in 1965 and one of the last great stone cathedrals built in Europe. Free to enter. The dome, the rose windows, and the Kennedy memorial (JFK attended mass here) are the highlights. Budget travelers cross the Salmon Weir Bridge (where you can watch salmon jumping in season, free), enter the cathedral, and see modern Irish faith in stone.
