Canal du Midi

The Canal du Midi is a UNESCO-listed 17th-century canal that starts in Toulouse and runs 240 kilometers to the Mediterranean. The tree-lined towpath along the canal is free to walk or cycle. Budget travelers walk or rent a cheap bike along the canal from the Port de l’Embouchure toward the locks and feel the pace of a city that moves slower than its size suggests.
