Square in Bremen

Bremen Market Square

Bremen’s Market Square is one of the most beautiful in Germany, surrounded by the UNESCO-listed Town Hall (free guided tours at set times), the Roland statue (UNESCO, the largest standing Roland in Germany, symbolizing freedom and market rights), and St Peter’s Cathedral (free). The bronze statue of the Bremen Town Musicians (donkey, dog, cat, rooster from the Brothers Grimm fairy tale) is on the west side. Budget travelers stand in the square and touch the donkey’s nose for luck.
