Church in Braga

Braga Cathedral

Braga Cathedral (Se de Braga) is the oldest cathedral in Portugal, founded in the 11th century with Romanesque, Gothic, Manueline, and Baroque layers. Free to enter the nave. The treasury and the choir (paid, modest) contain one of the finest collections of religious art in Portugal. Budget travelers visit the nave for free and walk through the Jardim de Santa Barbara (free, beautiful geometric garden) behind the old archbishop’s palace next door.
