Ulcinj is Montenegro’s southernmost town, with an Albanian-influenced culture, a long sandy beach, and the cheapest prices on the Montenegrin coast. The walled old town sits free above the harbour, and the long beach costs nothing beyond a sunbed if you want one. Shoulder season in late spring or September keeps the warm water without the July crowds or peak rates, and it pairs well with Budva and Kotor further up the coast.

Ulcinj Old Town
A compact walled old town perched on a cliff above the Adriatic, with free entry and sea views from the ramparts. The stones here have seen Illyrian, Roman, Venetian, and Ottoman rule, and the atmosphere feels different from anywhere else on the Montenegrin coast.
Velika Plaza
A 12-kilometre sandy beach stretching south towards the Albanian border, one of the longest on the Adriatic. Free access along most of its length with sections that stay uncrowded even in peak summer.
