Writers' Museum
The Writers’ Museum is a free museum in Lady Stair’s Close off the Royal Mile, dedicated to Robert Burns, Sir Walter Scott, and Robert Louis Stevenson. Free. The 17th-century building and the narrow close leading to it are as atmospheric as the exhibits inside. Budget travelers duck off the Royal Mile into the close and spend 30 minutes with the manuscripts, portraits, and personal belongings of three writers who shaped the English-speaking world.
