Church in Amsterdam

Westerkerk

Westerkerk is the largest Protestant church in the Netherlands, standing on the Prinsengracht near the Anne Frank House. Free to enter. Rembrandt is buried somewhere in the church, though the exact location is unknown. The tower climb (paid, small fee) offers views over the canal ring. Budget travelers visit for free, sit in the nave where Rembrandt’s funeral was held, and exit onto the Prinsengracht canal that defines Amsterdam.
