Uskudar
Uskudar is the main waterfront neighborhood on Istanbul’s Asian side, reached by a cheap ferry from Eminonu. Free to walk. The Mihrimah Sultan Mosque (designed by Sinan) dominates the ferry landing, and the food streets behind the waterfront serve some of the cheapest meals in Istanbul. Budget travelers take the ferry for a few lira, eat lunch on the Asian side, and photograph the Maiden’s Tower from the Uskudar waterfront.

Ciragan Palace
Ciragan Palace is a 19th-century Ottoman palace on the Bosphorus waterfront between Ortakoy and Besiktas, now operating as a luxury hotel. Free to view from the outside and the Bosphorus shoreline walk.
