Market in Skopje

Skopje Old Bazaar

The Skopje Old Bazaar is the largest Ottoman bazaar in the Balkans outside Istanbul, a grid of cobblestone streets with mosques, hammams, caravanserais, and coppersmith workshops. Free to walk. The Daut Pasha Hammam (now an art gallery) and the Cifte Hammam (also a gallery) are modest fees. Budget travelers cross the Stone Bridge from the modern city center into the bazaar and step from European kitsch into Ottoman atmosphere in 50 meters.
