Pristina City Center

Pristina’s city center is a compact mix of Ottoman mosques, brutalist Yugoslav buildings, and contemporary street art and cafes. Free to walk. Mother Teresa Boulevard, the National Library (a brutalist landmark loved and hated in equal measure), and the Newborn monument (repainted every year on Kosovo’s independence anniversary) are all within walking distance. Budget travelers find Europe’s youngest capital surprisingly energetic, cheap, and welcoming.
