Ponta da Piedade
Ponta da Piedade is a headland south of Lagos with golden limestone cliffs, sea arches, grottoes, and turquoise water. Free. Steps lead down from the clifftop to a platform near the water where kayaks and boat tours depart (cheap). The cliff-edge walk from Lagos takes about 30 minutes. Budget travelers walk from town, descend the steps, swim in the coves if the sea is calm, and photograph some of the most dramatic coastal scenery in Portugal.
