The oldest surviving university building in Poland, dating to the 15th century. The arcaded Gothic courtyard is free to enter and is one of the most atmospheric spaces in Krakow.

Podgorze
Podgorze is the district across the Vistula from Kazimierz, the site of the Krakow Ghetto during World War II. Free to walk. The Ghetto Heroes Square with its empty chair memorial (free), the remains of the ghetto wall on Lwowska Street (free), and the Eagle Pharmacy (free, the pharmacy that sheltered Jews during the liquidation) are all here. Budget travelers cross the bridge from Kazimierz and walk through a neighborhood where the Holocaust happened on the streets they are standing on.
