Plovdiv Old Town

Plovdiv’s Old Town sits on three hills above the modern city, a UNESCO-listed neighborhood of painted Revival-era houses, Roman ruins, and cobblestone lanes. Free to walk. The Roman Amphitheatre, still in use for concerts, is visible from the street (free) and enterable for a small fee. Budget travelers walk from the pedestrian center up through the old town, find the amphitheatre, and explore one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in Europe.
