Ortakoy is a waterfront neighborhood beneath the Bosphorus Bridge on the European side, with a baroque mosque right on the water, a weekend craft market, and waffle stalls. Free to walk. The Ortakoy Mosque with the Bosphorus Bridge behind it is one of the most photographed scenes in Istanbul. Budget travelers take a cheap bus from Taksim, eat a kumpir (baked potato, a few lira) from the market stalls, and photograph the mosque-bridge combination.
