Castle in Sintra
The Moorish Castle is a 10th-century fortification on the ridge above Sintra, with crenellated walls snaking along the hilltop. Entry is paid and can be combined with a Pena Palace ticket. The walls are walkable and the views from the battlements cover the Atlantic coast, Sintra’s forests, and on clear days, Lisbon. Budget travelers who can only afford one Sintra ticket sometimes choose the Moorish Castle for the views and the value.
